Amy Spanger will join the Broadway revival of Chicago for her second stint as Roxie Hart beginning September 14. Spanger, who previously portrayed the Merry Murderess in 2002, replaces Tracy Shayne, who will play her final performance on September 13. Chicago continues its run at the Ambassador Theatre.
Spanger most recently starred as Gwendolen in David Hyde Pierce’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. She has appeared on Broadway in Rock of Ages, Elf, The Wedding Singer, Kiss Me Kate, Urinetown and Sunset Boulevard. Off-Broadway, Spanger starred in tick, tick…Boom!, and her regional and touring credits include Rent, Chicago, A Chorus Line and Robin and the Seven Hoods.
Chicago currently features Terra C. MacLeod as Velma Kelly, Brent Barrett as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart and Carol Woods as Matron “Mama” Morton.
